I Want That - DIY networks popular TV show just featured Gatefeeder on episode 13 which aired in February 2013. Included in the show on weight-loss we were happy to do our part for tubby cats everywhere.
We were honored to be chosen by the very Stylish Dentro Casa Magazine to be part of their roundup of well designed technology for the home. We worked hard on the look of Gatefeeder and are gratified that a group with such a developed sense of style recognized our work.
Here is a review on a morning talk show in Quebec, Canada. It is in French without subtitles but still pretty cool to be on TV.
The feeding area outside for the cats
Although it’s protected from the rain it isn’t very safe from the neighborhood bully who is a very large cat and likes to visit our barn daily. Even though we chase him away whenever we see him it hasn’t deterred him at all. (in case you were wondering, the cat in the photo is not the bully, he’s shadow - one of my toddler’s favorites)
Besides him, the usual array of critters including the occasional fox also likes to visit so making sure the everyone of our family gets fed is difficult.
It is actually a perfect example of where Gatefeeder can help to resolve a difficult and sometimes deadly situation.
This video is a perfect example of the problem I used to have.
Automatic feeders that control the portions and timing are useful for only the most basic chore of feeding the cat. They are not useful when you need to control the portion and or which animal is eating the food. And when I had medication or was trying the Low calorie food for Mikey this situation was a disaster. In fact, the more issues I had myself the more often I wished that a product like Gatefeeder was available.
In my case, it took my cats about a week to figure out how to break into our carousel feeder so that item didn’t last very long in our house.
I really hope people find a restricted access feeder as useful as I do.
